Horton Hires a Ho!

Having a case of the Mondays? If you're looking for some good ole procrastination or just want a laugh, check out these great, terribly inappropriate childhood books. These are perfect for striking some nostalgic chords in the hearts of those of us that remember these books from our childhoods.

Skittles... Snickers... Pretzels... Pot?

Here is a little fun Friday morning fact. Marijuana opens for vending… no joke! Available in LA, you can now get all your prescription buds from a vending machine. Only after you pass security, give your fingerprint, and present your prescription will you be granted the credit card that allows you access to this electronic dealer. This credit card beats any free miles and extra points everyone else offers. Check out MSNBC's article.

Experience Pays

Experiential marketing is all about getting out into the real world and letting people interact with your products. 97 years ago, Heinz was going door-to-door spreading the brand and today we are seeing another surge in this form of marketing. Companies such as Dewalt expect to spend 50% of its 2008 marketing budget in non-traditional advertising.

Panasonic, with a 2008 budget of 90 million, expects to reserve a third of it specifically for experiential marketing.

Although experiential marketing has been a specialty of Street Attack since the beginning, in 2008 we have already noticed even more interest in these campaigns. Now, we would like to offer some free consulting services by listing a few brands we definitely think should stay away from experiential marketing in 2008.

The Story of Stuff

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I’m sure you’ve all picked out your New Year’s resolutions by now…exercise more, eat healthier, keep in touch with family members more often, etc. All very important things, but I truly believe this is the year of unselfish change. It’s easiest for us all to think of the world from our individual perspective, but it takes more initiative and creativity to think of the world as a whole.

When you get a chance, I highly recommend watching the opening video on this site:

I’m sure you’ve heard many of these thoughts before, but this video has carefully pieced them together from a much larger perspective. If you haven’t thought of a New Year’s resolution for yourself, hopefully this will help you pick one out…not just for yourself, but for the world.

CHASE THE RISING SUN

Three cheers to Michael and Lauren Crigler for the amazing success of their Chase the Rising Sun event. Walking into the gallery, you were immediately arrested by the visual wonderland of socially conscious art, which delves into the severed relationship between man and nature.

While the exhibit explored the realness of life, rebellion and idealism, it did so with elements of humor and sincerity. You could feel the deep sense of sorrow emanating from the tear stained Native Americans, and then smirk two steps later at a tongue in cheek image of talking banana. After one walk through, I was ready to sell all of my things and Chase the Rising Sun with them.
